Finally...After a very long day I come back to my home.

Butttttt!

As I entered the house something unbelievable I listen from my so-called-mother and my father.

“You’re getting married.”they say.

The words shattered me.

A part of me wanted to run away..

Left me silent.

Unmove.

Breathless.

How could they even do that without asking me once!

I thought to my self.

I try to speak. But words stuck in my throat.A deep shiver ran through my body.

Finally gathering all left over courage I ask-

W-whattt !

I said in very low voice , doubting if they here or not.

Papa said- "Sahi suna aapne...haath pele karne ki taiyari shuru kardo"

As I hear those words I stopped. I felt suffocated.Tears filled in my eyes .I looked at him with those eyes.

Suddenly my step mom said - heyy... don't cry they are good ones , you will not regret it.

The words felt anger in me, I want to scream but cannot.

Wanted to run away but cannot. My throat felt dry.

I moved hurriedly towards my room, closed the door tightly. Tears fell from my eyes.

Uncontrollable.

I sat on knees unable to stand.

The words from my father kept moving in my head.

One tear.

Followed by another.

Then another.

And kept flowing until get tried and rose up and went to my bed.

How could I get marry to someone I didn't know! I thought.

Who the damm! made the thing called marriage , another thought passed my mind.

I was completely lost.

Suddenly , a knock on the door help me to come in my state of mind again.

I stared at the door.

After few moments I heard a familiar voice.

"Radhika beta, open the door". I heard my grandmother voice.

I got up and open the door and found her standing there with a stick in her hand.

I hugged her.

Tightly.

Silently.

She hold my face and say,

"Stop crying baccha... I am here." She said with pleasing tone.

The words give some relief to my heart.

Next moment we were on my bed.

She held my hands and began to rudra gently.

I couldn't stop crying.

"Married — to a man I  had never seen, never met, never known...." I said to her with low voice.

But dadisa held my hand with her trembling hands.

“I can’t,” I whispered.

“hum unhe jaante bhi nahi hai dadisa.…” I continue

Her grandmother cupped her face gently.

“Kabhi kabhi niyati humse anumati nahi maangti, bas apna faisla suna deti hai.” dadisa said, looking directly into my eyes.

"Stop crying bacche." She said.

I knew that my grandmother will not let happen anything wrong with me.

My grandmother explained me everything that how my parents got to know who was him.

At last she said,

"Beta, aache ghar ka ristha hai...hum bhi kudh gay the vaha dekhne...hume lagta hai voh aapke leye ek dum sahi ladke hai".

I asked in low voice.

"D-did...he saw..me?"

"I don't know that" dadisa said.

But they say yes! She said after a pause.

A deep shiver ran through my blood.

I felt silent, not enough to look into her eyes only.

After few moments

I nodded.

And she left, giving me time to think.

For her sake — for the only person who had loved me without conditions.

I said yes...at the dining hall. In front of everyone.

Everyone seemed happy after listening it.

But somewhere in my heart there was a fear.

A fear, of what if he regret me after looking first time at me.

But I said yes,

Not because she wanted to.

But because , I no longer believed I deserved better.

"Jab insaan khud se haar jaaye, toh taqdeer se ladne ki himmat bhi chhoot jaati hai.”I thought.....

Rishi's POV

I was there in my study room when my mother and Akansh-my younger brother come running towards me.

Mummy said "Get ready beta at evening beta ... Ladki Wale aa rahe hai aapko dekhne"

And they left.

When the words move inside my ear, I froze.

Completely.

I never thought of marrying before.

How could I ?? , I thought to myself , looking at mirror.

Then my phone rang and I went to office...

...

5:30p.m

At evening I got downstairs after getting ready to tell them no.

I was just going in front of them

But suddenly someone held my hand.

I was shocked that who was it..

I thought what if thief come in , because all my family and staff are in hall and Kitchen.

I turned slowly to look and I found Akansh.

I took a deep breath and say

"What is now?"

He just hand over me an envelope and whisper in my ear.

"See it carefully....maybe you will fall.."

He said with a deep tone.

I looked back at him with confusion.

I was abouth to ask him what but till then he was gone.

I starred him going.

Then looked at envelope in my hand.

I opened it carefully and it was someone photo!

I looked at photo. Something deep ache in my heart.

I was starting it , then I found a name written below the photograph,

RADHIKA.

Her photograph rested in my hands, yet words abandoned me. I stood there in complete silence, as if even my breath feared disturbing the moment.

The second my eyes fell upon her face, my heartbeat betrayed me — racing, uneven, uncontrollable.

It wasn’t beauty that struck me first… it was something deeper. A strange familiarity. A quiet pull. As though my soul had already recognized hers long before my eyes ever could.

In that moment, I realized — some faces don’t need introduction. They simply feel like destiny.

Her brown skin made me feel for her.

Deep inside my heart I want her to be mine.

Only be mine.

Suddenly my mother voice came from hall-

"Rishi aayina jaldi"

I kept the photo in my pocket of jacket and went there.

But a fear of keeping her comfartable was choking me.

(Off course...it was fully yes from my side!)

I went there and found strage faces looking at me.

I sat there and answered there few questions.

Deep inside me...her photo was still in my mind.

Then suddenly Uncle asked-

"Toh ristha pakka samjhe?"

Mummy looked at me and I nodded after few seconds.

"Jii!" I said.

Everyone seemed happy and started talking mithai.

"Ohoo bhaisa....badhai ho!" Aakansh voice come from behind.

I looked at him with a small smile.

"Sambhal kar rahiye ga bhaisa , humne suna hai ladkiya bhouth nakhre wali hoti hai" he said teasingly.

I punched him on shoulder and laughed.

"Areyy Areyy bhaisa abhi se itna gurur..." He added.

Aakansh- I shouted.

He laughed and moved away.

Radhika's POV

Days blurred into rituals, preparations, and silence.

I was not able to enjoy the rituals and all..

Every night I cry.

Cry for some reason or maybe no reason!

I didn't try to contact him , neither he did...

Wedding day~

Finally the day arrived I had not expected yet and not want to!

Morning my haldi done with full enjoyment in my family.

In evening there was my marriage.

MY MARRIAGE!!!

Someone whom I didn't see yet till my weeding day was becoming my life partner.

Author's POV

She sat alone in her room, dressed in her blouse and lehenga — with jewellery and makeup and fear wrapped around a fragile heart. The mirror reflected a girl who looked like a bride, yet felt nothing like one.

Her hands rested on her lap, trembling slightly.

Rejection haunted her thoughts. The unknown terrified her more.

What if he didn’t like her? What if she wasn’t enough — again?

She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t hear the door knock at first.

“Didi…”

Her small cousins entered quietly, their innocent faces filled with concern. The moment she saw them, tears rushed to her eyes — but she quickly turned her face away.

She didn’t want them to see her breaking.

They were younger than her, yet carried a strange sense of responsibility, the kind only love could teach. They sat beside her, trying to make her smile, trying to lighten the heavy silence.

She tried to act normal.

She failed.

Her lips trembled, her breath uneven — and suddenly she pulled them into a tight hug, as if holding onto the last pieces of strength she had left.

For a moment, everything felt lighter.

Then…

A knock echoed again.

“Radhika…” her grandmother’s soft voice called from outside.

“Mandap ka samay ho gaya hai.”

Her body froze.

Her heart pounded violently, her legs refusing to move, as if the floor beneath her had turned to glass.

She closed her eyes, gathering courage from somewhere deep within — from love, from destiny, from the girl she was trying not to lose.

Slowly, she stood.

Her veil was placed over her face, hiding her tears, her fears, her fragile hope — hiding the storm inside a bride who felt like she was walking toward an unknown life.

With trembling steps and a racing heart, she walked out of the room — toward a man she had never seen, and a destiny she had never chosen.

She was sitting in the mandap.

Bridal red wrapped around a girl who felt anything but festive.

She hadn’t seen him.

Not his face. Not even his shadow.

Maybe he hasn’t seen me either, she thought bitterly.

"Isi liye unhone hume haan keh diya hoga"…

Her hands trembled as she held the varmala.

“Shayad kisi ajnabi ke saath bandh jaana hi meri qismat likhi thi.”she thought.

Buttt..

She didn’t know yet…

That he had already seen her.

That he had already chosen her.

Something that will change her life.

"Kyunki kuch mohabbat roop dekh kar nahi, rooh pehchaan kar hoti hai.”
